Bloopers in Sentai

You're always going to find some sort of error on a TV show or movie, but when I saw this continuity error on Changeman, I couldn't believe my eyes. I understand this is a kids show, but even I know kids aren't that stupid not to notice this. In episode 14: Attack! The Huge Lizards (part 2 of episode 13), the monster Ballas (Barasu) gives Gyodai energy pills so he can stay awake longer after creating a giant monster. Instead, Gyodai goes berserk, and creates giant monsters from lizards.

The first lizard is easily taken care of by our heroes, but in the next episode, Gyodai creates three more giant lizards. The first two suddenly disappear before the robot is formed and so a third one is created. Where did the other two lizards go? Oh, I know. They didn't have two lizard costumes, and in their blunder, couldn't fix it. Why start something you can't finish?

Hikaru Kurosaki aka Juspion

I found some interesting info on the ex-metal hero, Hikaru. After finishing with Juspion, he acted in some films, and then moved to Okinawa to become a scuba diver instructor. He is currently married to Yuko Asuko. I'm unsure of how many children they have though. The blog mentions he has an older son who works with him.

Ryu ga Gotoku Voice Actors

I'd always wondered what the voice actors looked like for the Ryu ga Gotoku/ Yakuza games. Check out the link below. Sega is working on Ryu ga Gotoku 4: Densetsu wo Tsugu Mono( Heir to the Legend). I can't wait.

Gekiso Sentai Carranger: Zenkai! Racer Senshi

I emulated this game a few years ago, and even though the game isn't that long, it's still fun to play. I always got the bad ending because I never found all the parts that are scattered on each level to rebuild your mecha. If my memory serves me right, you could also pick up parts for each Ranger's weapon, and run over enemies with your Speeder Machines. While the level designs don't seem all that original, I really like the super deformed look of the characters. It's too bad this game was never released in the States because I enjoyed playing it much more than the SNES Power Rangers game.

Sentai Famicom Games

Tokkyuu Shirei Solbrain

I decided to emulate some Sentai games since I don't have the cash to pay an arm and a leg for a famicom system or hard to find games. Solbrain doesn't really feel like a Sentai/ Metal hero game since all you can do is punch and collect letters to gain a robot companion to fight enemies. However, the graphics are well done for an old school game, and the music is catchy. I wouldn't be surprised though if Solbrain is a remake of Shatter Hand since it is nothing like the TV show.

Choujin Sentai Jetman

Jetman doesn't exactly have the greatest graphics, but at least each Jetman has his or her own attack. It doesn't seem like much time was taken to design the levels, and the only fun part is the robot vs monster battles.

Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger

Zyuranger would have to be the worst Sentai game I've ever played. I don't why a Sentai hero would have to jump platforms like Mario, or even waste time fighting snakes or spiders.

Metal Hero Video Games

These are some Metal Hero games I stumbled upon and never heard of. Cosmo Police Galivan was exclusively for Arcades and the Famicom in 1985.

This game feels like a hybrid of Zelda II and Metroid. I emulated it to give it a chance and as much as I want to like it, I just can't. The enemy designs are boring, and your sword is as about as useful as a stick. I didn't get that far into it because the game play bored me to death.

The Famicom Version

The Arcade

Cyber Cross, which looks more like Sentai, was released on the PC Engine in 1989. I really like the character sprites in this one, but felt overwhelmed as enemies swarmed all over the screen. On the plus side, the character does seem stronger when he transforms into "Sun Vulcan Eagle."

Cyber Combat Police was for the PC Engine/ Turbo Grafx 16 in 1990. The game play is similar to Cyber Cross and the constant spawning of enemies is annoying. I had more fun playing the former.

Galivan II: Arrow of Justice was released for the Super Famicom in 1993. I have yet to play this one, though I've read it isn't the greatest game out there.
